CUPPA PARTICIPATION

Joining Cuppa: frequently asked questions

For people joining Cuppa’s social network and social movement through matched conversations.

These documents relate to Cuppa’s matched-conversation initiative. They are not venue-hire or corporate-service terms.

What is Cuppa?

Cuppa is a social network and social movement that helps people meet outside their usual circles through thoughtful matches and real conversations. It brings together good humans with different interests, experiences and perspectives to see what can happen when they make time for each other.

What makes it a social movement?

It is about making genuine connections something we practise, not just something we talk about. Each person contributes by showing up with curiosity, listening and making room for someone outside their usual circle. The in person social network helps people find each other; the movement grows through the conversations they choose to have.

Who is it for?

Adults aged 18 and over in Australia and New Zealand who are curious about other people and open to genuine connection. You don’t need a particular title, an impressive story or an existing Cuppa membership to belong. People starting out, exploring a new chapter or simply wanting to meet someone different are welcome.

What might I get from a conversation?

A fresh perspective, a shared interest, a useful idea, a laugh or a friendship. Opportunities can grow from getting to know someone, but there is no promised business, financial or personal outcome. Curiosity is a good place to start.

How do I join?

Follow the link in your joining invitation, complete your profile and preferences, read the Terms, Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy, and complete the joining requirements. Tell us about your interests, experiences and the people you would like to meet. Only share what you are comfortable sharing.

What does it cost and what do I get?

One round of ten completed conversations over 100 days costs AUD $110 total for participants in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian price includes $10 GST. An introduction, message exchange, cancellation or no-show alone does not count as a completed conversation.

When do my 100 days start?

The movement launches January 2027. For the first cohort joining before launch, the 100-day period starts at launch. Conversations completed before launch count towards the same ten, so early participants receive extra time, not an additional round of ten. For participants joining on or after launch, the 100 days begin when they join that round.

Can I pause my participation?

Inactive or unresponsive accounts may be snoozed so they do not continue receiving new matches while other people are left waiting. You can reactivate when you are ready. Snoozing does not pause or extend your 100-day participation period. Contact enquiry@cuppa.tv if you need help.

What if I have not completed all ten conversations within 100 days?

Unused conversations expire at the end of your 100-day period. Extensions are not ordinarily available. If exceptional circumstances have prevented you from participating, contact enquiry@cuppa.tv. Cuppa will consider exceptional cases individually, but an extension is not guaranteed. These rules do not restrict your statutory rights if there is a problem with the service.

When will my first match arrive?

First matches for the launch cohort are planned to start arriving on 25 November 2026. We will email you when a new match is ready. There is no fixed weekly or monthly matching schedule. Record your completed conversations and complete your reflections so you can move on to new matches.

What happens after my ten conversations?

You can choose to buy another round of ten. The current price is AUD $110 (inc GST) total for participants in Australia and New Zealand. There is no automatic renewal or charge. The introductions are just the beginning: you can keep in touch with people you have met if you both want to.

Can I cancel or get a change-of-mind refund?

You can stop participating at any time. We do not offer a general change-of-mind refund for an unused or partly used round. This does not limit the satisfaction refund or your rights to cancellation, a refund or another remedy under applicable consumer law. Contact enquiry@cuppa.tv if there is a problem with the service.

What is the satisfaction refund?

If you complete all ten conversations and do not feel the experience was worth it, we offer a full satisfaction refund of the amount you paid for that round. Email enquiry@cuppa.tv within 30 days of your tenth completed conversation and tell us why. A refund returns the amount actually paid; a fully funded place or discount is not converted into a cash payment. This is separate from your rights if there is a problem with the service. You do not need to complete all ten conversations or meet this 30-day window to exercise your statutory rights.

How do you choose my matches?

We use what you share about your interests, experiences, what is on your mind and the people you would like to meet, alongside your meeting preferences. Introductions include a short reason for the match, giving you a starting point while leaving plenty to discover through conversation.

Can I meet online or in person?

Yes. Choose your meeting preferences when you create your profile. Online conversations are equally welcome, and many early conversations may be online while the community grows. Local in-person matches depend on suitable people being available near you and are not guaranteed. Agree a time and format that works for both of you.

Can I change my preferences or meet people outside my industry?

Yes. You can update your matching preferences as you go. Tell us the kinds of people you would like to meet. You do not need to limit yourself to people who do similar work or have similar experiences.

What if I already know my match or would prefer someone else?

You are welcome to use the opportunity to get to know them more deeply. If you would prefer someone new, request another match and briefly tell us why, or contact enquiry@cuppa.tv for help. You never have to meet someone or continue a conversation if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

How do we arrange our conversation?

Use the platform chat to agree a time and arrange your conversation. For an online meeting, agree who will provide the meeting link. For an in-person meeting, agree a public location. Make sure you each add the agreed details to your own calendar.

How long should we allow?

Allow around an hour, with roughly 30 minutes each to share and be heard. Agree together if you need a different length. A café or drink purchase is optional. If you buy food or drinks, you each pay your own way unless you freely agree otherwise.

What should we talk about?

Your lives, interests, experiences, what you are learning or something you are curious about are all good places to start. Work can be part of your story. You do not owe anyone free coaching, consulting, contacts or personal disclosures.

Is pitching or selling allowed?

Cuppa starts with getting to know the human, not delivering a pitch. Do not use a conversation for unsolicited sales, recruitment, fundraising or pressure to join a business opportunity. If a shared business interest comes up naturally, explore it only if you both genuinely want to. A match is not permission to add someone to a marketing list or keep contacting them after they have said no.

What happens after our conversation?

Record that you met and complete the short reflection, even if you arranged or held the conversation outside the platform. You will be asked about its value, what it gave you and whether you would like to connect again. Record completions honestly and do not include another person’s private story unnecessarily. Contact enquiry@cuppa.tv if you need help recording a conversation.

What if I need to change the time?

Let your match know through the chat as early as you can, agree a new time together and update your calendar. Where possible, give at least 24 hours’ notice. If you need to leave or cancel because you feel unsafe, your safety comes first.

What if someone does not reply, cancels or does not turn up?

An introduction or no-show alone does not count towards your ten completed conversations. Request another match or contact enquiry@cuppa.tv so we can help with the next step.

What if someone makes me uncomfortable or pressures me to buy something?

You can end the conversation or decline further contact at any time. You do not owe the other person an explanation, a purchase or continued contact. You can raise an issue in your post-Cuppa feedback or email enquiry@cuppa.tv without waiting for a conversation to finish. We recognise that not every conversation will be a great fit and will consider concerns individually. Share only what you feel comfortable sharing. If you are in immediate danger, leave if you can do so safely and contact local emergency services.

Do I have to share my story or photo publicly?

No. Public use of your story, words or image is a separate choice. Taking part in a conversation does not mean agreeing to be featured. Other participants must also ask before recording, photographing, transcribing or publicly sharing anything that identifies you.

Will a sponsor or employer see my individual activity or feedback?

No. We do not share identifiable participant profiles, messages, reflections or individual participation reports with sponsors or employers. Any reporting of programme impact to them uses combined, de-identified information, not individual participant reporting.

How should I protect my privacy?

Read the Privacy Policy before joining and be thoughtful about what you put in your profile, messages and reflections. You can use platform chat to make arrangements without choosing to share a personal phone number or email address. Details you share directly, including through your own meeting invitation, may be visible to the other person. Do not share another participant’s contact details, story or messages without their permission, except where a lawful and necessary report or request for support allows it.

Who can help?

For joining, matching, participation support or privacy questions, contact enquiry@cuppa.tv. See the Code of Conduct for reporting concerns and the Privacy Policy for information handling and privacy complaints, including how Pick My Brain handles information as the platform provider.
