Meet Paul Callaghan
I am an Aboriginal man belonging to the land of the Worimi people, now called Port Stephens.
I have held several senior executive positions in my career including CEO of New England TAFE. I am currently CEO and owner of Callaghan Cultural Consultancy and a Professor of Indigenous Knowledges at the University of Melbourne. I have qualifications in surveying, drafting, commerce, training, executive leadership, company boards and executive coaching. I also have a PhD in Creative Practice. My most important learning, however, has been through going bush with Elders.
My best-selling book, The Dreaming Path received the Australian Book Industry Award for ‘Small Publisher’s Adult Book of the Year’ in 2023. I also have a children’s book, Adventures on the Dreaming Path being published in July 2025 and a book on leadership scheduled to be published January 2026.
Family is my inspiration including my wife, three kids and soon to be four grandchildren. I am also a handy cook mainly because I love to eat which in turn means I have to go to the gym five days a week.
