Meet Mike Morrison
Mike Morrison is a speaker, cultural strategist, and emerging thought leader on the rising global crisis of loneliness — particularly its hidden impact on ageing, men, and modern work. Drawing on decades of leadership experience, combined with personal insight into disconnection, identity and renewal, Mike explores loneliness not as a personal failing, but as one of the most important social, health and economic challenges of our time.
As Mike says “Loneliness is not about being on your own its about feeling unseen. Technology didn’t connect us to people it connected to technology, we are together alone”.
Mike has been writing and speaking about mental wellbeing for the last 9 years as an author with 3 books, Anxiety Society, Survival of the Mentally Un-fittest and Middle Aged Man in Rehab.
Mike argues that we have built systems that optimise efficiency while eroding belonging — and that the cost is showing up everywhere: mental health strain, reduced resilience, fragmented communities, disconnected workplaces, and a growing sense of invisibility as people age.
His work reframes loneliness as a societal flaw, not a personal flaw — and invites leaders, organisations and communities to design for connection with the same seriousness we design for performance. In the era of work from home, how do we consider connection?
Today, Mike works with audiences across business, media and community sectors to help them understand what loneliness really is, why men are especially vulnerable, and what practical, evidence-based steps actually rebuild meaningful connection. His talks blend story, insight and practical frameworks that move people from awareness to action.
Passionate about elevating conversations that matter, to advocate for healthier, more human systems — where people feel seen, valued and connected across every stage of life.
My Why
I think you have an obligation to bring awareness, education and practical help to important issues if you can. I’m a story teller and find it enormously satisfying to use my story to inspire others. I got to a fork in the road after a successful career and thought is that it ? Got to the top and there was nothing there. There was a nagging feeling in me that I had something else that was socially more useful than being an international adman.
