Meet Kathryn Elliott

Kathryn Elliott is an alcohol coach, speaker and workplace wellbeing advocate with a passion for helping people create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

After changing her own relationship with alcohol in 2019, following a breast cancer diagnosis at age 46, Kathryn made a career transition from corporate leadership into coaching and wellbeing. Today, she combines lived experience, professional training and evidence-informed approaches to help individuals and organisations improve wellbeing, performance and quality of life.

As the founder of The Alcohol Mindset Coach and creator of SipSmart Workplace Wellbeing Programs, Kathryn has worked with hundreds of individuals and delivered programs for organisations seeking to create healthier workplace cultures and support employee wellbeing. Her work explores the connection between alcohol, stress, sleep, mental health, resilience, productivity and human connection.

Kathryn is a board member of NoLo Life, a certified alcohol coach, and has been featured across major Australian media including Sunrise, SBS Insight, Channel 7 News, Channel 9 News, The Australian Financial Review, The Age, Mamamia and Women's Agenda.

What makes Kathryn's presentations unique is her ability to blend powerful personal storytelling with practical, evidence-based insights. Audiences appreciate her warm, relatable and non-judgemental style, leaving conversations feeling inspired, empowered and equipped with simple tools they can immediately apply in their own lives.

Whether speaking about behaviour change, wellbeing, resilience, leadership, alcohol culture or navigating life's unexpected challenges, Kathryn's message is ultimately about helping people live with greater clarity, courage and connection.

My Why

My passion for speaking comes from a deep belief that meaningful change is possible for all of us—often through small shifts in awareness, perspective and action.

For many years, I lived what looked like a successful life on the outside, while ignoring habits and behaviours that were quietly impacting my health, wellbeing and happiness. Following a breast cancer diagnosis at age 46, I was forced to stop and ask some bigger questions about how I was living, what truly mattered, and what I wanted for the next chapter of my life.

The changes that followed transformed far more than my relationship with alcohol. They changed the way I think, lead, connect, care for myself and show up in the world.

Today, I share my story and expertise because I know how powerful it can be when someone hears an idea, a question or a perspective that helps them see themselves differently. I am passionate about helping people challenge assumptions, develop greater self-awareness and recognise that they have more choice than they may realise.

Whether I am speaking to individuals, leaders or workplace teams, my goal is always the same: to create conversations that inspire reflection, spark possibility and empower people to make changes that support a healthier, more connected and fulfilling life.

If even one person leaves a conversation feeling more hopeful, more empowered or more willing to take a small step towards the life they want, then I consider that a meaningful impact

My Accomplishments

If I'm honest, the achievements I'm most proud of won't be found on my LinkedIn profile.

I'm incredibly proud to be the mum of three wonderful sons, who continue to teach me about love, growth, patience and perspective every day.

In 2019, at age 46, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and navigated 15 months of treatment. It was one of the most challenging periods of my life, but it became a catalyst for profound personal transformation and a deeper appreciation for what truly matters.

That same year, I made the decision to stop drinking alcohol. What began as a health decision evolved into one of the most significant and rewarding changes of my life. I've now lived alcohol-free since July 2019 and have experienced firsthand the impact that greater clarity, self-awareness and intentional living can have on every area of life.

In 2024, after much reflection and courage, I chose to leave my marriage and begin a new chapter. While difficult, it was one of the most important decisions I've made in honouring my values, wellbeing and authentic self.

Perhaps the thread that connects all of these experiences is a commitment to growth, courage and living from the heart. I don't believe resilience is about being fearless; it's about continuing to move forward, even when life doesn't go to plan.

These experiences have shaped not only who I am, but how I coach, speak and connect with others. They remind me every day that meaningful change is possible, and that some of life's greatest challenges can become our greatest teachers

Fun facts

I entered the world 9 weeks early, which perhaps explains why I've been trying to catch up ever since!

I'm a lifelong and slightly obsessive Carlton supporter—I still have newspaper clippings from the 1982 Grand Final and own a special pair of blue boots that only come out for finals games. (Yes, I'm convinced they help.)

I'm also known for being spectacularly clumsy, despite my best efforts, and you'll rarely find me in black. Give me bright colours, animal print, glitter and a great pair of sneakers any day of the week.

Music is another great love of mine. If INXS, New Order or an 80s anthem starts playing, there's a good chance I'll be singing along regardless of who's watching.

And while I spend a lot of time talking about wellbeing and personal growth, some of my happiest moments are found in the simple things: a great coffee, a good laugh, a sauna, time in nature, and meaningful conversations with interesting humans.
