Meet Genevieve Hawkins

Most leaders know what the problem is. The harder question is why the conversation about it keeps getting avoided — and what it's actually costing.

My background spans occupational therapy, workers compensation, health and safety and digital and commercial transformations. I have grown a start up. I have worked at the 'big end of town'. Which means I've never approached any of this from a purely clinical or purely commercial angle. I've worked across both, and I understand how they connect. After a decade as an executive leading major transformations at Allianz, Wesfarmers, and Coles, I founded Mentally at Work to do one thing: translate neuroscience into commercial language that improves the bottom line and people's health sustainably.

I've authored Mentally at Work and Shrinking Elephants, and built the S³ Leadership Model — Self, Social and Systems Intelligence — to give Boards, executives and leadership teams a practical way to close the gap between brain chemistry and bottom line.

I am known for my curiosity, passion and simplifying complexity, to enable lasting change. I bring both an energy and grounded practical application to the stage whenever I talk. Audiences walk away with ah ha moments and actions they own.

If you're navigating conflict that isn't resolving, transformation that isn't landing, or psychosocial risk that needs to translate into real action — let's talk.

My Why

We are all fundamentally hard wired to want and need connection. I have experienced both the joy and value of deep connection and the pain of disconnection at a person, team and organisational level. In this increasingly volatile and complex world, I believe that collaboration not competition will help solve our wicked problems, but it all starts with connection. Connection with ourselves, each other and the ecosystems we operate in. My own experiences leads me to want to help other people learn the skills to create and maintain these connections to unlock health and our potential.

My Accomplishments

I am the author of two books, Mentally at Work (2020) and Shrinking Elephants (2024) I sat on the Board of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation Board for 8 years and currently sit on the Executive Advisory Board for Pride in Diversity and am then Chair for The Next Group. I have founded, grown and sold my own Business and have then gone onto a corporate career I am a Business Advisor and Coach now on mental health, conflict and transformation.

Fun facts

I am the 8th of 9 children > Proud mum to my two amazing children in their 20s (a daughter and a transgender son) > I love Star Wars, Marvel, Bushwalking and reading about the brain, our mental health and leadership.
